LOVE LETTERS TO THE DEAD OPTIONED FOR FILM

Deadline reported earlier this week that Fox 2000 has optioned Ava Dellaira's debut novel, Love Letters To The Dead, for film. Temple Hill will be producing who also produced the highly anticipated book to film adaptation The Fault In Our Stars, which comes out next month. Ava Dellaira will also be writing the basis of the script due to the fact that she has spent time working in the film industry.
Producing are Temple Hill‘s Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen.
The author will write the script, under the supervision of Fox 2000 execs Elizabeth Gabler and Erin Siminoff will oversee for Fox 2000.
It begins as an assignment for English class: Write a letter to a dead person. Laurel chooses Kurt Cobain because her sister, May, loved him. And he died young, just like May did. Soon, Laurel has a notebook full of letters to people like Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse, Amelia Earhart, Heath Ledger, and more; though she never gives a single one of them to her teacher. She writes about starting high school, navigating new friendships, falling in love for the first time, learning to live with her splintering family. And, finally, about the abuse she suffered while May was supposed to be looking out for her. Only then, once Laurel has written down the truth about what happened to herself, can she truly begin to accept what happened to May. And only when Laurel has begun to see her sister as the person she was; lovely and amazing and deeply flawed; can she begin to discover her own path.

THE EQUALISER TRAILER

Denzel Washington stars in yet another action movie titled The Equaliser, from the trailer it looks like another generic action movie where the protagonist saves the victim from their captors. Though I could be wrong as some movies from this genre are very deceiving and turn out to be a very good movie. But I still have mixed reviews on this one so I may wait for when its released on DVD, what do you think?
A former black ops commando who faked his death for a quiet life in Boston comes out of his retirement to rescue a young girl and finds himself face to face with Russian gangsters.

CLOUDS OF SILS MARIA TRAILER

For any fans of Kristen Stewart or Chloe Grace Moretz I can announce that the official trailer of Clouds Of Sils Maria starring the two was released during Cannes Film Festival. I believe it has quite a few mixed reviews already but that is because of the harsh critics down at Cannes. What do you think? Is it a hit or will you give it a miss when it comes out later this year?
At the peak of her international career, Maria Enders is asked to perform in a revival of the play that made her famous twenty years ago. But back then she played the role of Sigrid, an alluring young girl who disarms and eventually drives her boss Helena to suicide. Now she is being asked to step into the other role, that of the older Helena. She departs with her assistant to rehearse in Sils Maria; a remote region of the Alps. A young Hollywood starlet with a penchant for scandal is to take on the role of Sigrid, and maria finds herself on the other side of the mirror, face to face with an ambiguously charming woman who is, in essence, an unsettling reflection of herself.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD - JEALOUSY

The Neighbourhood have just released their new track Jealousy via their social networking sites, which features Casey Veggies and the 100s. I must admit it is very different from all their previous tracks but as always with any musicians is that they tend to branch out to other music genre styles, so they don't become a bore with their audience by producing the same old sound. It just depends on whether they can handle different styles which in this case The Neighbourhood can.

UPDATE #4

Sorry that I've been MIA recently which was probably due to me getting City Of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare very early (Saturday to be exact) and I only just finished it yesterday! So expect a review of that to be posted sometime this week, along with a review of X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Other than that I'll be chilling out and marathoning some TV shows now that I'm finally on my summer break!

BIRDY & JAYMES YOUNG - BEST SHOT

With the release of The Fault In Our Stars soundtrack out in the states I have been anticipating the release of one song in particular on the album, which is of course Best Shot by Birdy and Jaymes Young. However I was extremely disappointed when I first listened to it as Birdy drowns out Jaymes' voice so that you can hardly hear him meanwhile Birdy gets all the voice time. I was actually expecting it to be a kind of a depressing song but it turned out to be quite lifting, which is probably why I don't like it as much. As both of those artists are known for having quite heavy emotional songs, not chirpy ones, but I guess there's always time to branch out to different genres. Only time will tell whether I grow to like it, so watch this space for any updates which will probably contradict what I'm saying now.

Godzilla | Potential Spoilers

I've been following this movie ever since it hit development, Godzilla was one of my most memorable TV shows I used to watch back in the day, though I may have not watched any of the previously made Godzilla films I knew this one would top them all.

Fifteen years ago an earthquake in Japan ruptured a nuclear power plant killing everyone in its wake, caused by the hazardous radiation leakage which is now a quarantined area. Now back to the present, Ford Brody is forced to (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) bail out his dad, Joe Brody (Bryan Cranston), out of jail in Japan. Joe had tried to break into the quarantined area to gain access to files, proof that what happened fifteen years ago was covered up, which are stored at his now desecrated home. Now with the help of his reluctant son, who thinks he's obsessively crazy, break into the quarantined area yet again to get these files once and for all and to prove to the public that they're not being told the whole truth. When they reach the compound they find the files but in doing so they have alerted the onsite guards, who bring them to the site that was once previously the nuclear power plant but that has now since been rebuilt. There they witness the birth of a gigantic creature that destroys the entire compound and flees off into the night sky, the time to save humanity from this destruction begins now with the help of Joe's theories and Ford's specialist training.

Of course I had high expectations for Godzilla and it sure did exceed those expectations, I was constantly on the edge of my seat held on the suspense of how the events would play out. Not once was I able to predict what would happen next, which was refreshing as most movies nowadays you can aways predict what is about to come from a mile away. I'm glad the trailers gave us a hint of what to expect and kept the mystery surrounding Godzilla hidden, keeping the audience blind from what they would be anticipating leaving them in suspense throughout the whole of the movie.

I surprised that Aaron Taylor-Johnson had a large chunk of screen time as from viewing the trailer we see him a few times, however it is Bryan Cranston that appears to have more screen time in the trailer than the actual movie. It was weird seeing Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen as an onscreen couple seeing as they play onscreen twins in Avengers: Age of Ultran, which is due to their evident chemistry. I really wish we had more screen time of those two but there's always Godzilla round two and of course the Avengers sequel.

The sound effects of Godzilla's ear shocking roar was marvellous, the sound team did a very good job recreating one of the most iconic roars in movie history.

I saw a few comments floating around on Twitter earlier saying that it was even better than Transformers, in a sense I understand where they're coming from as both Godzilla and Transformers share similar themes, where these unidentified lifeforms are perceived as the bad guys who are causing havoc on earth. Though if we were to stand back to look at the bigger picture we would see these lifeforms are protecting humanity from the real monsters that are set to destroy us.

Knowing that they've set Godzilla as a potential franchise is great news as the reviews have been nothing but positive, so we may get some future instalments if the stories right. Plus as of now Godzilla has had one of the best box office openings of this year so far, so it is unlikely to flop even though many people assumed so.

I had an inkling at the end that Godzilla would survive from his injuries due to the fact that if he can withstand nuclear he can withstand anything.

I definitely recommend that you go see Godzilla as soon as possible, it is now one of my most favourite films of 2014 so far and it could be yours too.

THE FLASH TRAILER

The CW have released the first teaser trailer for The Flash, starring Grant Austin as Flash, which also features a guest appearance from the Arrow, played by Stephen Amell.

KENDALL & KYLIE JENNER YA BOOK ANNOUNCEMENT & RELEASE

“In a world of the far future, the great city of Indra has two faces: a beautiful paradise floating high in the sky, and a nightmare world of poverty carved into tunnels beneath the surface of the earth,” the description continues. “Kendall and Kylie Jenner, the youngest sisters in the Kardashian dynasty, have written a gripping tale of air, fire, and a bond of blood.”

Rebels: City Of Indra: The Story Of Lex And Livia is due to be released June 3rd.

THE WHISPERS TRAILER

The first trailer for The Whispers has been released starring Lily Rabe, Barry Sloane, and Milo Ventimiglia.
A race against time to defeat an unseen alien enemy out to destroy the world using the Earth's most precious resource, children.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

With the hype of this book circulating the internet at the end of last year it definitely left an impression on me that I needed to own this book and read it right away. So when a nearby store was selling it for a bargain I couldn't refuse the price and brought it and now this is where my review begins.

Cath and Wren are identical twins who've been inseparable all their lives, however that all changes when Wren decides she wants to gain independence by sharing a hall of residence at their first year of university without Cath. Cath on the other hand struggles to even contemplate what she's agreed to by accepting to live with a complete stranger on campus, something that she'd never thought she would ever do. But that doesn't matter as she's got Simon Snow to keep her busy from any interaction with her new roommate, Reagan. Cath has been writing Simon Snow fan fiction for as long as she can remember and with a strong fan following to keep in order she spends most nights in, compared to her twin who spends them out. Now handed with assignments to complete will Cath commit fully to her studies or will she continue to keep her Simon Snow fan fiction alive, the only thing that will never leave her unless she choses to stop.

I was very much hooked to this from the beginning, however for me the story was too long to keep up with that I had to force myself to keeping reading until the next chapter. I found some things were unnecessary and could have been condensed down to keep up the pace, from the very start I read the fan fiction snippets however once I got to the half way mark I lost interest in the fan fiction and just focused on the actual story.

At times I found Cath quite annoying especially when it came to her decision making, I would literary be thinking to myself why are you doing that just think for a moment before you make a bad decision. Such as continuing to write her Simon Snow fan fiction and ignore her coursework, I know how something can easily turn into an obsession or even keeping up to date to please your audience, which I can relate to by keeping my blog up to date but I always put my education first because for one you want to get decent grades and two further education isn't cheap.

When Nick was introduced I kind of shipped them together because they had so much in common but then later in the book I was disappointed with Nick and how badly he treated Cath. I'm still not sure if Cath deserved to be with Levi just because it took her a rather long time to figure out she actually liked him and that she didn't really act on her feelings until it was too late.

One thing I really wish this book included was a dual point of view between Cath and Wren because I would of really liked to know what Wren got up to when we didn't see her and how her relationships played out. I also really liked the fact that we got an origin story behind their names as I found them interesting to have such unusual names, but the story isn't as nice as you'd think it be.

My favourite characters throughout Fangirl were Reagan because of her overall presence and she spoke her mind ignoring the feelings of anyone around her, which I really liked. The other character that was most memorable was Art, Cath and Wren's dad, as he's such a relaxed person and supports his daughters decisions when necessary.

I am not for one a fan of ambiguous endings just because I'd like to have some closure of what happens overall to the characters, but other than that it was a good story, though because I had such high expectations I found this disappointing and lacking in areas.

THE CW CANCELS THREE WELL KNOWN SHOWS

E News! reported earlier today that the CW network confirmed the cancellations of three of its shows, which are, The Carrie Diaries, The Tomorrow People, and Star-Crossed. However there is good news for the fans of Beauty And The Beast, Hart Of Dixie, and The 100, all of which have been renewed.
Freshman dramas The Tomorrow People and Star-Crossed featured classic CW hunks Robbie Amell, the cousin of Arrow star Stephen Amell, and Matt Lanter, but the sci-fi shows failed to develop a sizable audience for the struggling network; The Tomorrow People's season one finale attracted just one million viewers, while Star-Crossed's latest outing brought in 900,000 viewers.
In addition to canceling the three low-rated dramas, the CW renewed Beauty and the Beast, Hart of Dixie and The 100, while also announcing the pick up of four new series. Among them? The Arrow spinoff series The Flash and Rob Thomas' iZombie.

DANIEL SHARMAN CAST IN SEASON TWO OF THE ORIGINALS

Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo

So this book has been sitting on my iBooks shelf since last year, so when I decided which ebook I should read next I chose wisely. I had previously joined in to participate reading Shadow & Bone for one of my Goodreads book clubs. But I had unfortunately missed out on the chance to read it during the running time, as I had other books I was currently reading at that time and busy with uni. So as you can tell by now I chose Shadow & Bone as my next read and it did not disappoint!

Alina grew up in an orphanage with her only best friends Mal, now many years later they are serving in the army and are in the final preparations of crossing The Shadow Fold. It's an dark and deadly mass that covers the whole of what once was a great nation, Ravka, but is now succumbed by this dark matter which keeps hidden the monsters, who were once men and women alike, that live in the shadows waiting for any traveller to pass to make its deadly move. To cross the Shadow Fold the army uses powerful Grisha, people who are worshipped because of the gifts they acquire, such as healing, air, fire, and many other skilful assets. Alina and her fellow comrades become outnumbered by the many monsters that are attacking them in the dark, lives are taken, but some saved, with Alina's quick thinking she saves Mal with his appointment with death. It is only when Alina wakes up from what appears to be a blackout that she gets informed of her newfound power which she can hardly digest. With news of this great power emerging one of the greatest Grisha's, The Darkling, orders that she must be sent to the palace before people come looking for her, especially for all the wrong reasons. Alina must now decide what is best for her future, whether that includes her best friend Mal, or the mysterious and dazzling Darkling.

I must admit I thought I wasn't going to like this book at all, the beginning was very slow which made it hard to get into, but the more I read the more I enjoyed it and became hooked! It's also a genre that I've never really read before, so I'm glad I started the hi-fantasy taste with Shadow & Bone. This is definitely a genre I'm going to be returning to in the near future and I'm excited with carrying on with the rest of this series.

Alina couldn't bare to think that she had this great power bestowed upon her, the fact that she grew up in an orphanage meant that she had created this mindset that she was just an abandoned child that nobody wanted. But that is clearly untrue considering how many characters who thought she was more than that and meant everything to them, especially Mal. Alina definitely spent a lot of time worrying about her conflicting emotions, especially about her desires over the men in her life and deciding who meant the most to her. But other than the usual YA conflict Alina was a very strong heroine during Shadow & Bone, never giving up hope or on any of her missions for that matter, never looking back.

Mal was a very difficult character to read, as you're never really sure of his true intentions towards Alina, his best friend or someone who could become more than just friends. The one quality I liked about Mal is that he's a very loyal character, and selfless for that matter, he always puts everyone else before himself.

The Darkling on the other hand was very mischievous and you never really know where you stand with him or what his intentions are. I was actually shocked by some of the twists and turns towards the latter half of the book, I was seriously not expecting things to turn out like that.

If your interested in reading this book series, which sadly ends later this month with the third and final book, then definitely give it a go!

I gave this book a four out of five star rating because of the slow pace at the beginning and I also felt that something else was missing that could of really kicked it up a notch.

SRPING BREAKERS SEQUEL ANNOUNCED

TotalFilm reported earlier today that the production company, Wild Bunch, behind the 2013 spring hit film Spring Breakers starring James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, and Ashley Benson, has announced they're in the motion of planning and possibly filming a sequel titled Spring Breakers: The Second Coming just in time for the next Cannes film festival.
Spring Breakers: The Second Coming sees the bikinied gangsters doing battle with an extreme militant Christian sect that attempts to convert them.
“It’s not a direct sequel although there are allusions to some of the characters in the original,” says Wild Bunch co-chief Vincent Maraval. He also said that there will be a mix of new and old cast in the follow-up, without confirming whether the four original leading ladies - Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine or Selena Gomez - or James Franco would be returning.

May Book Haul #1

So I decided to treat myself this month by placing a small order at Amazon on relatively cheap books that have been on for wish list for quite awhile. I also placed another order at the Book Depository but that has simply not arrived yet, and I'm also waiting like many on the release of City Of Heavenly Fire, which I preordered a hardback copy with the Book Depo last month.

What books have you brought so far this month? Which one should I read next? Do you have any recommendations?

PERFECT SISTERS - TRAILER

I've been following Perfect Sisters for quite a while and I was shocked that I had missed a new trailer that had been released last month, announcing a brand new release date! I believe this film was originally meant to come out in 2012 but as sometimes the case it kept getting pushed back. It stars Georgie Henley (The Chronicles Of Narnia) and Abigail Breslin (My Sisters Keeper) who play the "Perfect Sisters".

CALL OF DUTY: ADVANCED WARFARE - TRAILER REVEAL

Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare was due for a trailer reveal tomorrow, however a leakage from yesterday meant that they had to bring it out a day forward.

FALLEN STILL #1

Yesterday author Lauren Kate posted on her Twitter an exclusive first look still to the film adaptation of her best selling series Fallen, it features Harrison Gilbertson as Cam Briel, Addison Timlin as Lucinda Price, and Jemery Irvine as Daniel Grigori. If the film is a success at the box office it will join popular book to film franchises, such as Twilight, The Hunger Games, and Divergent, a fun fact is that Jeremy Irvine turned down the role of  both Peeta and Four, so lets hope it does well for his sake!

A young girl finds herself in a reform school after therapy since she was blamed for the death of a young boy. At the school she finds herself drawn to a fellow student, unaware that he is an angel, and has loved her for thousands of years.

(PETER) PAN CASTING NEWS

Earlier this week it was announced that Amanda Seyfried has secured the role of Mary in the Peter Pan live action remake, joining stars Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard, Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily, Garrett Hedlund as Hook, and newcomer Levi Miller as Peter Pan. Another actor thats reportedly rumoured about seeking a part is Cara Delevingne, however as always it has yet to be confirmed by the studio.

STAR WARS CASTING NEWS

With May 4th fast approaching Star Wars fans are heavily expecting some Star Wars related news, however we were given a surprise towards the end of last month (April) which if you didn't know already was the casting of some relatively unknown actors that have secured believably major roles of this rebooted franchise. The actors announced are, John BoyegaDaisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, who will join the previously confirmed stars Adam DriverHarrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker. Though of course any further information is being kept under wraps, but lets hope there will be some more revelations on Sunday.

THE FAULT IN OUR STARS - EXTENDED TRAILER

20 Century Fox released an extended trailer of The Fault In Our Stars a few days ago and the fans reaction has been ecstatic! TFIOS stars Shailene Woodley as Hazel Grace Lancaster and Ansel Elgort as Augustus Waters, adapted from the best selling book by John Green.

Hazel and Gus are two teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them on a journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous given that Hazel's other constant companion is an oxygen tank, Gus jokes about his prosthetic leg, and they met and fell in love at a cancer support group.

MATT SMITH TO JOIN TERMINATOR REBOOT

Deadline has reported that Doctor Who star Matt Smith has been casted as a major role in the new rebooted Terminator trilogy. The film has so far announced its four actors attached to the project playing very iconic leads indeed, Emilia Clarke (Game Of Thrones) will portray Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke (Lawless, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes) will portray an adult John Connor, Jai Courtney (Divergent) as Kyle Reese, Dayo Okeniyi as Danny Dyson, and Arnold Schwarzenegger reprising his famed role.
Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions are setting the final major piece of the final trilogy of Terminator films. I’m told they are casting Matt Smith, who played Doctor Who, in a major role that will grow in the second and third films.
EDITED:

Since writing this up Paramount Pictures have confirmed via their Facebook page that Matt Smith has indeed secured a major role in Terminator franchise.
Smith will play a new character with a strong connection to John Connor, alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi and Byung Hun Lee.

What do you think of this casting news? Who do you think he'll play?

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES - TRAILER #2

MOVIECLIPS posted a new trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles featuring all the turtles, Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Leonardo. Last month it was reported that Johnny Knoxville would voice the role of Leonardo, which was later confirmed. It is quite possibly a risky move given that Leonardo is a very serious character and that Johnny Knoxville is relatively known for being a prankster, so we'll see how that plays out.

Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
