MEN, WOMEN & CHILDREN TRAILER

The first official teaser trailer for Men, Women & Children has been released, which stars Ansel Elgort, Emma Thompson, Jennifer Garner, Judy Greer, and Adam Sandler.
A look at the sexual frustrations that young teenagers and adults face in today's world.

Hate List by Jennifer Brown

The Hate List has been on the top of my wish list for awhile and I finally managed to get a pretty decent second hand copy considering this book is quite expensive to get a hold of in my country. I've always been intrigued by the story and how it can told as it's quite a delicate matter.

After a traumatic experience Valerie has spent the summer secluded away attending therapy sessions to relive her mind of the awful day when everything changed in her small suburban town. Now Valerie must return to complete her last year of school, but she must face the guilt of the infamous Hate List she created with her boyfriend Nick which so happened to leave a wake of tragedy behind them. Will her classmates be so forgiving and will she forever forgive herself.

The theme of Hate List is quite tricky to write especially since it happens the most in America, so it has to be written in a delicate way which I thought was beautifully done. I really liked the fact that Jennifer Brown chose to write flashbacks, which lead up to the events of the shootings and the major fallout afterwards. This definitely had a nice steady pace, which I thoroughly sped through and that I now consider one of my all time favourite books.

Throughout I followed what Valerie had to go through, emotionally and physically after the shooting, as she had to come to terms that her trusted boyfriend Nick wrecked havoc on school grounds taking out all the people that were listed on the Hate List. Valerie hated the fact that she indeed was responsible for the tragedies because of that list, something that was created to take out her anger on but majorly backfired when Nick used its entirety for something dark and sinister. The fact that Valerie thought she knew Nick so well but indeed only knew one layer of him and not actually what his true intentions were, another thing she feels guilty about because she didn't pick up on his behaviour sooner.

Of course with such a complex theme Valerie had to deal with the hate campaign against her, which subsided with time and even became civil with her peers again, which was mainly due to popular girl Jessica, the girl she saved. Val also had to struggle with the fact that her friends from before had abandoned her in her time of need and tried so hard to make amends of a somewhat fragile relationship with them.

Overall I thought this book was very realistic as we get the insight of Valerie's thoughts and memories before and after the events. I'm still unsure about the ending, as I'm not overtly keen on open endings, but because of Valerie's roller coaster life I like to believe that she's making a better life for herself somewhere faraway without being known as the personal reminder of what went wrong in her town.

Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead

I can't believe I managed to finish the entire Vampire Academy series this summer, I wish the series could just keep going but fortunately there is a spin off series (Bloodlines) that will keep my Vampire Academy fix in check. Although I can relive the journey again by reading the graphic novels, I believe the first three in the series are out at the moment, so I will most certainly be getting those soon!

Rose Hathaway antics have got her framed for the death of Queen Tatiana and now she along with her friends have to push the limits to free her from this never ending nightmare. While free Rose must go on a journey along with Dimitri & Sydney, while evading their capture from the most elite guardians, to trace someone who will bring her trial to a stall while gathering evidence that will clear her name.

I really enjoyed Rose's the last outgoing, the pace of the whole book was unbelievably fast considering it's the largest one out of the series! There were so many surprises on Rose's journey however there was only one twist that I knew about, something that I was spoiled upon awhile ago but I can totally see it coming a mile off if I didn't know because it was so strategically placed a few books ago. We also got to see more of other characters, two in particular, Sydney Sage and Sonya Karp, however I won't go into detail on the latter because of spoilers! But yet again we got to witness Sydney in action and also deal with the fact that she has to forcibly spend time with dhampirs.

Even throughout this whole series I was never quite sure who I shipped Rose with, I liked how Rose had a calming affect on Adrian but I think she knew she was never truly with Adrian. Dimitri on the other hand was different because he had an off limits appeal and we know with Rose she always gets what she wants.

The only character I was annoyed with was, believe it or not, Lissa, but thats only when she finds out about a certain someone, and the way she treats them is totally unLissa-like at all.

Again, I still can't believe the series has come to an end and I still wish there was more but our journey through this series has most indefinitely come to an end, however for the characters its only just beginning.

I highly recommend this series to any young adult readers whether you read fantasy or romance this definitely has the best of both worlds.

GODZILLA 2 RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCEMENT

Variety are reporting that Warner Bros. and Legendary have announced the release date to the highly anticipated Godzilla sequel, which will be coming to cinemas June 8th 2018. However it is not yet stated whether the original cast will be returning, though with the success of the first film it would be wise to bring back the same cast.
Gareth Edwards, who is also developing one of the “Star Wars” standalone pics, returns as director of the monster movie sequel. At Comic-Con in July, Legendary dislcosed that Godzilla will be joined by a number of other iconic beasts from the long-running franchise — Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah— in the next movie.

Summer book haul

I brought many books over the summer, some in batches, others just solo, so lets begin this show and tell haul!

Pre-order
City Of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

Well as you can tell I pre-ordered the final instalment to TMI about a month before its release date with Book Depository, which actually arrived a few days before its general released date!

WHSmith
Looking For Alaska by John Green
Deep Blue by Jennifer Donnolly

I could not believe it when I saw Deep Blue in hardback, WHSmith rarely sell hardbacks, so I just had to get it! But the bonus was that they were having a buy one get one for £1 deal, which as you can see I picked up Looking For Alaska.

Ebay
Love Letters To The Dead by Ava Dellaira
Hate List by Jennifer Brown
Ruin And Rising by Leigh Bardugo
Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern

All my Ebay finds are used, apart from LLTTD. The only minor annoyance I have is with the quality of Where Rainbows End, as it was listed as new but its extremely old, so I may get the movie edition when it eventually comes out and either donate or sell on this copy. But my absolute bargain of the day was Ruin And Rising, I got it for less than half its retail price!

Book Depository
Thousand Words by Jennifer Brown

After reading Hate List I kept my eye on Thousand Words and at the time BP were selling it the cheapest! So expect some Jennifer Brown reviews coming your way!

Asda
Paper Towns by John Green
The Giver by Lois Lowry
The Good Girl by Mary Kubica

I went into Asda to buy two books but came home with three, and let me tell you they weren't the ones I was looking for! I was actually quite annoyed that they didn't have the books I wanted but these were the next best thing!

TWO NIGHT STAND TRAILER

Miles Teller is having quite a busy year with all these new releases and of course filming the rebooted Fantastic Four franchise and shooting the Divergent sequel Insurgent. Two Night Stand looks like a fun rom-com which are really hard to find as some are just over the top cheesy and too predictable. It stars Miles Teller, Analeigh Tipton, Jessica Szohr, and Leven Rambin.

A snowstorm forces two people who made an online connection to unwillingly extend their one-night stand.

CAMP X-RAY TRAILER

Kristen Stewart's latest film, Camp X-Ray, has just released its first official trailer, which generated quite a lot of buzz around the various film festivals this year. By the short glimpses we are given from the trailer this could easily be Stewart's strongest role to date yet.

VAMPIRE ACADEMY: FROSTBITE CROWD FUNDING CAMPAIGN

Vampire Academy fans will be pleased to know that the producers behind Frostbite have secured the financing and script, written by Piers Ashworth, who wrote the St Trinian scripts and also the upcoming Graceling adaptation. But to bring the project forward they want the fans to contribute to their crowd funding campaign, which is to raise an additional $1.5 million, this is due to the financiers making sure that there is enough fan demand to fully invest to the project. So far the campaign has raised $127,639 in three days with another 28 days to go it should be possible to raise enough funding. The plus side of contributing to the crowd funding is that whichever amount of money you donate you get a cool package perk, with a variety to choose from depending on how much you donate. The packages include, signed photos of the cast, script, on set updates, merchandise, and much more, so get donating now before the package you want is sold out!

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD TRAILER

It seems like I have been waiting years, like many, for the first reveal of the latest Mad Max film via the form of a trailer, but all hopes were granted at SDCC'14. The official trailer is something of a masterpiece which includes some of my favourite actors such as Tom Hardy, Nicholas Hoult, Charlize Theron, and Zoe Kravitz.
An apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life. Within this world exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There's Max, a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos. And Furiosa, a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.
